I am not really sure how I would feel if I knew the nurse attending me got her degree from an online university. I always thought that nursing was one of those things that required experience to be included with the degree. I had an acquaintance who went through 4 years of collage to get a nursing degree. Her first two years was just book study but after that first two she spent a lot of time working in various hospitals around the state. Western Governors University offers online nursing degrees. There is a link on the site that offers financial aid and they offer degrees from RN to BN. I am having a hard time getting over that lack of in hospital experience. I don’t see that mentioned anywhere on the site. While I like the idea of being able to get a degree from an online university like Western Governors University but I do think they need to offer some kind of program that would allow nurses to get the necessary hospital time there going to need.
